Students participating in Dancer For A Day program.

 

 

 

Dancer For A Day - August 12
Boys and girls entering first, second, or third grade in fall 2010 (please no children younger than first grade) are invited to enroll to be a dancer for a day in the KCB studios (1616 Broadway, KCMO) on August 12 from 9 a.m. to noon.

Students will take an age-appropriate dance class with live music, learn a ballet story and create choreography to match the music themes, learn about various types of dance shoes, see Kansas City Ballet dancers at work and discover what happens in KCB’s costume shop. 

Cost is $15 per child (includes light snack and supplies). Students are asked to dress comfortably for movement/dance and wear tennis shoes or ballet slippers.  Please, NO SANDALS, CROCS or FLIP-FLOPS; NO BARE FEET! The deadline to sign-up is Monday, August 2 (no exceptions).

Project X
This in-depth project offers participants an opportunity to attend three arts events which includes Kansas City Ballet performances. Project X members meet the artists and engage in lively discussion about what they saw and learned.



Program Speakers
From the drama of love betrayed to the joy of love found, and featuring gorgeous music and exquisite costumes, scenery and lighting, Kansas City Ballet productions have it all.  Everyone enjoys this exciting art form, but it helps to know a little bit before you attend a performance.  A Kansas City Ballet representative will introduce your group to the extraordinary world of dance.  Available for groups of 15 or more.



Dance INFORmances
Four Dancers and a narrator explain and perform excerpts from the Kansas City Ballet repertory.  Choose from the following formats:

  1. The World of Dance - Dancers demonstrate warm up and preparation exercises, followed by a performance of several pieces.
  2. Dance and Art - Dancers perform pieces of varying styles and relate them to correlating styles of art masterpieces.

    Fee:  $390 Single Performance, $550 Double Performance
    Grades:  3rd-12th
    Length:  45 Minutes
    Audience:  250 People maximum


Tours
Kansas City Ballet invites you and your group to come see our company at work. Call to arrange a tour of our studios for your group of ten or more people. W e can present information about productions in progress and you can take a peek at our professional dancers in rehearsal. You'll also be able to see costumes in the making in our costume shop.



Master Classes
Arrange for intermediate to advanced dance students to take a class from one of the KCB’s master teachers.
